        Personal data

Personal data denotes any information concerning the personal or material circumstances of an identified or identifiable natural person. This includes, for example, your real name, address, telephone number and date of birth. Information that is not directly linked to your true identity – such as favorite websites or a site’s number of users – does not constitute personal data.

        Google reCAPTCHA

We use the reCAPTCHA service from Google Inc. (1600 Amphitheatre Parkway Mountain View, CA 94043, USA) to protect our website against spam and misuse. reCAPTCHA prevents automated software (termed “bots”) from engaging in abusive activities on the website, i.e. it helps check whether the inputs are actually made by a human being. In order to determine this, the following data is transferred to Google:

        • Referrer (the address of the site on which the CAPTCHA is used)
        • The user’s IP address
        • The user’s Google account (the account is recognized and assigned if the user is logged on to Google)
        • The user’s input behavior (such as answering of the reCAPTCHA question, the speed at which inputs are made in the form fields, the sequence in which the user selected the input fields) is used to improve pattern recognition in Google. The browser, its size and resolution, browser plug-ins, date, and language setting
        • Display instructions (CSS) and scripts (JavaScript) for the website
        • Mouse and touch events on the page

Google also reads the cookies from other Google services, such as Gmail, Search and Analytics. All the specified data is sent to Google in encrypted form. Google’s subsequent analysis determines the form in which the CAPTCHA is shown on the page: as a checkbox or a box in which text is entered. Personal data from the input fields of the form in question is not read or stored.

The data is processed on the basis of Article 6(1) letter (f) GDPR. Deutsche Post AG has a legitimate interest in protecting the websites of deutschepost.de against abusive automated attempts to access them and spam.

You can find more information on Google’s Privacy Policy at www.google.com/policies/privacy/.

        • in connection with our security requirements (e.g. to uncover criminal activity);
        • to produce statistics;
        • to secure payment;
        • and for purposes of quality assurance, process optimization and reliable planning.

You will find further details on, for example, the type of data, the purpose of data processing, and the legal basis in the sections on the respective products.

In the absence of statutory retention periods, the data is stored for the purpose of fulfilling and settling the given contract and for evidencing proper fulfillment until the expiration of applicable liability periods; it is erased thereafter.

        Group Data Privacy Policy

Your personal data is not disclosed, sold or otherwise transferred to third parties, unless that is necessary for handling the contract or you have given your explicit consent. Adform & CONSENTRIC

Our website uses cookie ID matching of the CONSENTRIC cookie with Adform. An Adform cookie will only be added if users already have a CONSENTRIC cookie in their browsers.

Deutsche Post AG's CONSENTRIC technology uses the CONSENTRIC cookie to determine statistics for cross-media utilization. At no point in time are individual users identified by name. Their identity remains protected. Cookie matching is used to enable the service provider Adform to work with Deutsche Post AG's CONSENTRIC services. The goal of these services is first of all to determine the activation performance statistics of physical advertising on a website. In concrete terms, this means identifying how many of the people who received a catalog (or other mailing) subsequently visited the website of the company concerned. Information about which micro-cell visited a participating website can, in turn, provide an impetus for sending physical advertising to the micro-cell thus recognized. At no point in time are individual users identified by name. Their identity remains protected. You can object to data processing as part of the procedure described under: https://pixel.consentric.de/optout or https://site.adform.com/privacy-center/platform-privacy/opt-out/

Please note: The opt-out cookie set by you makes it possible for the system to recognize that you no longer wish to be recorded.

If you delete all cookies, this cookie will also be deleted. In this case, we would ask you to cancel your participation in the procedure once again.

The CONSENTRIC procedure was developed in accordance with the statutory data protection requirements and was awarded the ADCERT Privacy Audit GmbH (www.adcert.eu) data protection seal of approval by virtue of its outstanding data protection compliance.

Collection and processing of personal data
When you visit our website shop.deutschepost.de, the website from which you visit us, the pages you visit on our website, and the date and time of access are stored. Other personal data, such as your name, address, telephone number or e-mail address, is not collected unless you provide this data voluntarily, for example during registration, when you order a product or service online, or as part of a survey, competition or request for information. If you place an order in our Internet shop, your purchaser data is stored for the period of time customary under commercial law. Your IP address is also stored as part of an order. This data is stored explicitly to ensure IT security and to prevent and investigate fraud.

If you purchase Internet stamps, the sets of printed stamps are provided by means of a download link. The link is sent to you in an unencrypted e-mail. If you have selected the option “Internetmarken mit Adressen” (“Internet stamps with addresses”), it is not possible to fully rule out third parties accessing the sender and recipient data of the printed set, which is sent in unencrypted form.

The data owner is Deutsche Post AG.

Use and forwarding of personal data

We use the personal data provided by you for the purpose of technical administration of our websites and to fulfill your wishes and requirements, i.e. generally to perform the contract concluded with you or to respond to your inquiry.

Moreover, Deutsche Post reserves the right to send the surname, first name and full address of the customer to the credit reporting agencies infoscore Consumer Data GmbH, Rheinstr. 99, 76532 Baden-Baden, Germany, and Verband der Vereine Creditreform e.V., Postfach 10 15 53, 41415 Neuss, company address: Hellersbergstra?e 12, 41460 Neuss, Germany, so that the customer’s creditworthiness can be checked. Further checks on the customer’s creditworthiness may be conducted, depending on the order value.

We also use your postal address, where permitted by law, to send you offerings and information of interest to you. You can object to this use of your data at any time. To do so, please contact our customer service: service-shop[at]deutschepost.de.

We would also be pleased to contact you by e-mail so as to supply you with information on offers and further news about our products and services. If you register with our online shop, we will ask you to tell us whether you would like to receive direct promotional messages from us in the form of a newsletter. It goes without saying that you, as a customer of Deutsche Post AG, will continue to receive the necessary information and details of important changes in connection with existing service agreements, regardless of such consent to or any objection to use of your data for advertising purposes.

Your data is not forwarded, sold or transmitted to third parties unless that is necessary for the purpose of performing the contract or you have given your explicit consent. It may be necessary, for example, for us to disclose your address and order data to our suppliers when you order products. We will disclose data to government bodies only if required by law to do so.

        Use of web tracking

We use tracking software (Adobe Analytics) on our website to monitor their frequency of use and the number of users. This software does not collect personal data and IP addresses. The data is used exclusively in anonymized, summarized form for statistical purposes and for the development of the website.

You can find an opt-out, i.e. means of deactivating web tracking on our website for your browser, on the following site:

        How to manage cookies

        consentric

Use of the address matching technology for ascertaining cross-media utilization – your right to object

Our website uses the address matching technology of Deutsche Post AG to determine statistics for cross-media utilization. As part of that, your delivery and/or invoicing address is assigned to a Deutsche Post Direkt GmbH micro-cell (? 6.6 households) by a service provider engaged by us, and this code number is subsequently saved in encrypted form at another service provider. The legal basis for use of the address in this way is Article 6(1) letter (f) GDPR. In addition, cookies are saved with your consent on the PC or other device you use. IP addresses are not saved in the procedure and are immediately anonymized.

The cookie makes it possible to recognize that you are visiting a website participating in the survey. This information is then aggregated on the basis of the above-mentioned Deutsche Post Direkt GmbH micro-cell and as a result can no longer be attributed to you personally.

The goal is first of all to determine the activation performance statistics of physical advertising on a website. In concrete terms, this means identifying how many of the people who received a catalog (or other means of advertising) subsequently visited the website of the company concerned. At no point in time are individual users identified by name. Their identity remains protected.

Access to a website or other means of advertising is saved by Deutsche Post Direkt GmbH as an attribute of a micro-cell. This attribute can be used by Deutsche Post Direkt GmbH as part of its other address services to select target group segments at the micro-cell level and use them for dialog marketing campaigns.

You can object to data processing as part of the procedure described under:
         https://pixel.consentric.de/optout.

Please note: Only the opt-out cookie you have set makes it possible to recognize that you no longer wish to be recorded. If you delete all cookies, this cookie will also be deleted. In this case, we would ask you to again cancel your participation in the procedure.

This procedure was developed in accordance with the statutory data protection requirements and was awarded the ADCERT Privacy Audit GmbH  (www.adcert.eu) data protection seal of approval by virtue of its outstanding data protection compliance.

        intelliAd Media GmbH

This website uses the web analytics service with bid management from intelliAd Media GmbH, Sendlinger Str. 7, 80331 Munich, Germany. To design and optimize this website to suit the requirements, anonymized usage data is processed and saved in aggregated form, and used to create usage profiles. When intelliAd tracking is used, cookies are stored locally. You have the right to object to the processing of your usage data. Please use the intelliAd opt-out function for this purpose.

        Adform

Sections 2 to 4 of the website have already provided you with information on how your personal data is used. We also wish to provide you with information on usage-based online advertising. As part of that, usage behavior on some of our websites is collected and processed anonymously so that advertising can be tailored optimally to you. We are committed to protecting your data when it is processed throughout the entire business process and we want you to feel secure when you visit these Internet pages. The technology from Adform A/S (http://www.adform.com) uses browser cookies to store the preferences of website visitors, such as an opt-out and a unique visitor ID, and to store information relating to the functionality of the Adform ad server, such as frequency capping, ad rotation and click attribution.

Adform reads browser cookies whenever an HTTP GET request is sent to the Adform ad server and passes on either the unique user ID, or the information that cookies are disabled or that the visitor has opted out, for every transaction – an impression, click, website visit or event.

Adform sets cookies in the visitor’s browser with the aid of HTTP GET response headers when that makes sense, for example if certain features of the ad server are used or in order to renew the cookie’s lifetime.

Adform does not use any other cookies (such as flash cookies) or a similar functionality to track visitors or their browsers. Adform does not store any personal data, such as the visitor’s name or address, in browser cookies.

No personal data, such as the visitor’s name or address, is passed on to Adform.

        Security

We have taken extensive technical and organizational security precautions to protect your personal data stored by us against unauthorized access and misuse. Our security procedures are reviewed regularly and adapted to technological advances.

        postfinder.de

Collection and processing of personal data

When you visit our websites, our web servers temporarily store the following information as standard for the purpose of system security: the connection data of the requesting computer system, which of our websites you visit, the date and length of your visit, the data identifying the type of browser and operating system used, and the website from which you visit us. Other personal data, such as your name, address, telephone number or e-mail address, is not collected unless you provide this data voluntarily, for example as part of a registration procedure, survey, competition, performance of a contract or request for information.

Use and forwarding of personal data

We use the personal data provided by you exclusively for the purpose of technical administration of our websites and to fulfill your wishes and requirements, i.e. generally to perform the contract concluded with you or to respond to your inquiry.

We only use such data for product-related surveys and marketing purposes if you have given us your prior consent and if you have not filed an objection, insofar as this is permitted by law.

Your personal data is not disclosed, sold or otherwise transferred to third parties, unless that is necessary for handling the contract or you have given your explicit consent. It may be necessary, for example, for us to disclose your address and order data to our suppliers when you order products.

        Information from the Group

The companies in the Deutsche Post DHL Group would like to contact you with information about offers and other news relating to our products and services. If you register with our websites, we will therefore ask you to tell us whether you would like to receive direct promotional messages from us. As a customer of Deutsche Post, you will naturally continue to receive the necessary information on important changes relating to existing contracts (e.g. price changes).

        Use of web tracking

We use tracking software on our websites to monitor their frequency of use and the number of users. This software does not collect personal data and IP addresses. The data is used exclusively in anonymized, summarized form for statistical purposes and for the development of the website.

        Use of cookies

Cookies are small files that enable us to store information related specifically to you, the user, on your PC while you visit one of our websites. Cookies help us to determine how frequently our Internet pages are accessed as well as the number of users. They also help us configure our offerings so that they are as convenient and efficient as possible for you.

On the one hand, we use, “session cookies”, i.e. cookies that are stored exclusively for the duration of your visit to one of our Internet pages. On the other, we use “persistent cookies” to retain information about visitors who repeatedly access one of our Internet pages. The purpose of using these cookies is to be able to offer you optimal user guidance as well as to “recognize” you and thus be able to present (as far as possible) diversified Internet pages and fresh content if you use the pages repeatedly. The content of a persistent cookie is limited to an identification number. Your name, IP address, etc. are not saved. We do not create an individual profile of your online activities.

You can also use our offerings without cookies. In your browser, you can deactivate the saving of cookies, limit them to certain websites or set your browser so that you are notified as soon as a cookie is sent. You can also delete cookies from your PC at any time (“cookies” folder). However, please note that in this case you will have to expect restricted page presentation and user guidance.

        Network Advertising Initative (NAI)

This website uses technology from nugg.ad AG (www.nugg.ad) to monitor data to control advertising. In order to do this, nugg.ad saves the frequency of use of various website topics in cookies. These cookies are stored in the browser on your device (e.g. your PC, laptop, smartphone, etc.) for a maximum of 26 weeks. nugg.ad’s technology may also save basic information on your use of other websites in order to make a rough estimate of what advertising might interest you most.

If you wish to see advertising on websites that are of interest to you, you can opt in to allow further theme-based analysis of your usage behavior. If you give your consent, this opt-in cookie will also be stored in the browser on your device. It will be stored for 1 year. If nugg.ad has already stored information in cookies that had previously been placed in the browser on your device, setting an opt-in cookie will have the following effect: As a result of your consent, the lifetime of the cookie that nugg.ad has already set will be extended to a total of 1 year (calculated from the date when the cookie was set). Therefore, the information stored in the cookies prior to your opt-in will be retained following your consent and deleted upon expiration of the lifetime of the cookie, in other words, after a maximum of 1 year.

You can find further information on data protection on the website of The ADEX; an opt-out option is available at de.theadex.com/company/consumer-opt-out.

        Analysis by wiredminds

Our website uses pixel tracking technology from wiredminds GmbH (www.wiredminds.de) to analyze visitor behavior. In the process, data from which usage profiles with a pseudonym are created may be collected, processed and stored. Where it is possible and makes sense, these usage profiles are anonymized completely. Cookies may be used in this process. Cookies are small text files that are stored in the visitor's Internet browser and enable the browser to be recognized again. The data they collect, which can also include personal data, is transmitted to wiredminds or collected directly by wiredminds. When people visit the website, wiredminds is allowed to create anonymized usage profiles from the information visitors leave behind.  The data collected in the process is not used to personally identify the visitor to the website without the separate consent of the affected visitor, and it is not combined with personal data of the person behind the pseudonym. If IP addresses are collected, they are anonymized immediately through the deletion of the final block of numbers.

Collection and processing of personal data

When you use our app, the servers used store by default the date, the type of device you use, the type and version of your operating system, and the type and version of the browser you used, with the objective of enhancing system security and conducting statistical analyses. Personal particulars above and beyond that, such as your name, address, phone number or e-mail address, are not recorded. That means Deutsche Post is informed, for example, that an unknown iPhone 5 with iOS 7 installed on it clicked on the “Postfinder” function in the Post mobil app.

        Use of app tracking

We use software such as Flurry (see the section “Privacy statement on Flurry“) and Crashlytics
(http://try.crashlytics.com/terms/) to ascertain the frequency of use and number of users of our Post mobil app and any stability problems with it. This software does not collect personal data. The data is used exclusively in anonymized, summarized form for statistical purposes and for the development of the app.

        Privacy statement on Flurry

We use Flurry Analytics to keep on improving our app and identify errors in a timely manner. The tool also helps us ascertain user behavior in the app by creating anonymized usage reports. We do not send any personal data to Flurry; in addition, all the data is anonymized. You can find a means of opting out from the services of Flurry at: https://dev.flurry.com/secure/optOut.do. You can find Flurry’s privacy policy at: http://www.flurry.com/resources/privacy.html

        Use of the Portocode function

If you use the Portocode function and scan a Portocode shipment you have received, the ID of your device is stored for a limited period of time (a maximum of 7 days) for security reasons. However, no personal data is stored. The sender of the Portocode shipment is informed, in anonymized and summarized form, about how often the matrix codes are scanned and how often further actions, such as calling of URLs, have been performed. However, the sender does not obtain any personal usage data.

We point out that the information that can be called using the Portocode function may be advertising content of the sender and Deutsche Post AG.

Depending on the type of claim, additional data, such as title, date of birth, name at birth, nationality, profession, marital status, motor vehicle holder, date of driving license, arrangements with respect to representation, details of family members, ID data, residential situation, the course of events leading to claim, extent of loss etc., may be requested to handle the claim.

        2. Purpose and legal basis of processing

The data is primarily used for performing the contract in accordance with Art. 6(1) b of the GDPR.

In addition, data is processed in accordance with Article 6(1) (c) of the GDPR to comply with statutory requirements such as Section 99 of the Penal Code, Section 40 of the Postal Services Act and regulatory or tax-rated requirements etc.

Finally, the data is also used to collate statistics. Deutsche Post AG believes that there are no overriding interests that prevent processing because the extent of the interference with rights by such processing is kept to a minimum, e.g. by means of anonymization and aggregation. The legal basis for this is Article 6(1) f) of the GDPR.

        3. Recipients or categories of recipients:

A matter can be referred to another Group company if this is necessary for processing it. Data may be transmitted to insurance companies in connection with the processing of claims. Similarly, data is transmitted to comply with statutory requirements (e.g. to investigating authorities). Some customer services and IT services are outsourced to external providers.

        4. Third-country transfer (i.e. data is transmitted to a country outside the European Economic Area (EEA) or the data is accessed from there)

Service providers outside the European Economic Area (EEA) are involved in handling customer concerns. Personal data is only transmitted if the EU Commission has attested that the third country has an appropriate level of data protection or there are other appropriate safeguards ensuring data protection (such as binding data protection regulations within the company or EU standard contractual clauses).

        b) Processing customer concerns (e.g. customer service, claims management)

        1. Type of data
        • Image data
        2. Purpose and legal basis of processing

The legal basis for processing the data is Section 6 of the Industrial Compensation Society’s Accident Prevention Rules, which has the status of a statutory requirement (Art. 6 (1) c) of the GDPR).

In addition, Deutsche Post AG has a legitimate interest. The legal basis for this is Art. 6 (1) f) of the GDPR as Deutsche Post AG seeks to protect its staff, its property as well as that of its customers and also postal confidentiality.

        3. Recipients or categories of recipients:

Data is only accessed if there is any suspicion of criminal activity. In this connection, image data may also be transmitted to the investigating authorities.

        4. Third-country transfer (i.e. data is transmitted to a country outside the European Economic Area (EEA) or the data is accessed from there)

Your data is not processed in a third country.
